Discretionary account (controlled account)
An account owner authorizes his stockbroker to make and execute buy and sell decisions without having to notify him in advance (an account for which trading is directed by someone other than the owner). Such proxy accounts are not uncommon in both financial and commodity markets. – See Managed Account, Prearranged Trading.
