Defterdar and Tefterdar (defterdar; accounting chief)
Said in older financial language – of a civil servant who heads a treasury in a public body (head of a treasury) and – the head of accounting in a company (head of the financial department). – The word is of Turkish origin and originally meant the Grand Treasurer of Turkey (head of the Ottoman financial administration). – See chamber, penny master, treasury, paymaster.
