Capacity utilization rate
The percentage at which the resources of a company or the economy as a whole are used for production (the percentage at which the production capacity is used). This indicator is also important for monetary policy and is therefore monitored by the ECB on an ongoing basis. – See capacity utilization, output gap, potential output, potential growth, production constraints, stability policy, underutilization, two-pillar principle. – Cf. ECB Monthly Bulletin of September 2009, pp. 74 et seq. (correlation between cyclical phase and capacity utilization rate; overviews; literature), ECB Monthly Bulletin of November 2013, pp. 104 et seq. (attempt to assign different measures).
