Bundesrepublik Deutschland Finanzagentur GmbH (Federal Republic of Germany Financial Agency)

Private-sector agency established in 2001 to act as a bond broker and obtain the most favorable terms possible for government debt. It is responsible for the operational business as a whole. Only the interest rates for the individual tranches are set – after prior consultation with Deutsche Bundesbank – in the “Steering and Control” unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance. The Federal Securities Administration (formerly known as the Federal Debt Administration) was merged with the Federal Republic of Germany Finance Agency GmbH on August 1, 2006. – See Federal Securities Administration, European Debt Agency, sovereign debt, interest rate swap.
