Auto-collateralisation is a settlement liquidity arrangement in which securities serve as security for temporary financing needed to complete a purchase. The financing may be based on assets already owned by the purchaser or on the securities delivered through the purchase itself, allowing settlement to proceed despite a temporary shortage of available cash.
