asset

An asset is an economic resource available to an enterprise for use in its activities or for conversion into value. It can include cash, property, rights, or other controlled resources that support operations or produce returns. Legal ownership is not always necessary; practical control and the ability to obtain benefits are central. Assets are reported alongside liabilities and equity to help describe an enterprise’s financial position and operating capacity.
