Millesime (millesime; date on coin; millennial figure in date)
Term occurring in various meanings. – In older documents and only the last two digits on a coin finished after the year 1000 (the last two digits in the year of issue on a coin finished after the year 1000). In 1620, for example, 20 is in this case the – or, as after the gender in French, so also often in German, the – millesime. – In the broader sense also the whole year on a coin (the year of issue of a coin), consequently in the example case 1620. – In other definition with coins the millennium number (the millennium as the first cipher on a coin), with 1620 thus the number 1. – See obverse, eteostichon, mintage, imperial coin, reverse.
