Old coin in Germany, named after the town of Hall am Kocher (today: Schwäbisch Hall). Originally, the Heller was a minted silver coin, later a copper sheath coin. – The town of Hall in Tyrol, located on the left bank of the Inn River, where (silver) coins were produced from 1486 onwards, does not seem to have given its name to the Heller, as numismatics has proven. – In Austria during the crown currency period from 1892 to 1925, 1 crown = 100 heller. – See Halling, Kreuzer, Münze, Verrechnungsmünze.
