For a bank – and for a company in general – a business policy that attempts to keep the attained market share and competitive position. Entry into new areas of business or increasing sales by opening additional branches or through acquisitions is not really envisaged. Private bankers in particular pursue this business policy. – See acquisition, strategic, outsourcing, bank size, optimal, bank size, Gibrat rule, megamergers, Penrose theorem, Peter rule, sales growth, corporate growth.
