After the collapse of the hedge fund Long-Term Capital Management (LTCM) in 1999, a working group set up by leading representatives of internationally active banks with the aim of breaking down risks in hedge funds and discussing suitable precautions against financial difficulties with the supervisory authorities. The working group reorganized itself in 2005 and, above all, drew up recommendations on better risk management for new financial instruments. – See Supervisory discussions, Hedge fund risks.
