First-to-default basket, FTD (also used in German)

Credit derivative in which the investor undertakes to assume the default of the first receivable of a smaller portfolio of usually five reference assets. In return, the investor receives a corresponding premium from the issuer (protection buyer; floating rate payer). – See credit derivative, option.
