Textile sale levy (stall money)

Former levy on the sale of woven goods (fabrics, textiles; drapery), calculated per ell. The cubit (ell) was an old measure of length – measured on the forearm – of different sizes; in Germany it corresponds to between 60 cm and 68.8 cm in today’s measurement calculation. – In the past, it was also used to pay the stall money of foreign sellers at a local market.
