Pooling (also in German; less frequently Zusammenlegung)

In the financial market, generally the pooling, centralization of individual resources in order to achieve a higher profit or reduce a loss (the grouping together of resources [assets, equipment, effort, etc.] for the purpose of maximizing advantage and/or minimizing risk) – As part of its cash management, a bank pools the accounts of the customers it serves, which are held in different foreign currencies, and consolidates these foreign currencies in a single account. – An originator bundles a larger number of receivables – usually consisting of similar types of loans, such as mortgage loans – into a portfolio. This package is then passed on to a special purpose vehicle, which derives securitized securities from it and places them with investors. – See Absence capitalism, Omnibus account, Pledge pool process, Pool, Securitization.
