Gender-specific tariff

In insurance, the calculation of the premium depending on the gender of the policyholder. In March 2011, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled that taking gender into account as a risk factor constitutes “undue discrimination. Accordingly, the same rates must be applied to female and male policyholders. – See Unisextarif. – Cf. BaFin Annual Report 2012, p. 113 f. (transposition of the ECJ ruling into German law; issues relating to the transition from the bisext tariff to the unisext tariff and vice versa; BaFin also amends the Calculation Regulation in the course of this), p. 116 f.
