In some German territorial states, a special charge on market transactions of chocolate. The basic ingredient cocoa [pronunciation in Germany mostly two-syllable Ka-Kau, in Switzerland and southern Germany three-syllable Ka-ka-o] – coming to Europe from South America via Spain and the Netherlands – was also seen as a means of stimulating and strengthening the sex drive (aphrodisiac agent).
