Cable (also in German)

On the stock exchange, the exchange rate between British pound sterling and the U.S. dollar. – The word derives from the Transatlantic Cable, which was laid between England and the U.S. in the 1940s after attempts in the 1860s, and through which the rates were transmitted by cable from then on.
