The Bonn-based agency’s responsibilities include the taxation of German residents with foreign income and the tax audit of large companies. Other responsibilities include the supervision of the family benefit equalization scheme, the supervision of the granting of the old-age pension allowance, the payment of salaries for all judges, civil servants, employees, workers and pension recipients of the Federal Government with the exception of the Federal Armed Forces and the Foreign Office, the accounting of incidental wage costs for various departments of the Federal Administration, the supervision of the Interest Rate Discount Act, administrative assistance for domestic and foreign authorities, and the operation of the computer center of the Federal Finance Administration and the Information Center for Foreign Tax Relations. – See Interest Information Regulation.
