Appropriation of tuition money

In the past, the (German central) government transferred money to the maintenance providers of secondary public schools in order to enable financially weak communities to pay for teachers. The appropriated amounts were usually distributed to the individual school boards via the Landesschul-Kasse, which was part of the respective provincial administration. – See appropriation clause, writing school fee, school fee.
