HOI: Mathematics Proficiency Level 2, Public schools indicates how fairly access to this level of mathematical attainment is distributed among children in public schools. The measure combines the proportion reaching at least level 2 with an adjustment for disparities between circumstance groups. These groups are defined by the child’s gender, parental education, the school’s region, the father’s occupation and household wealth, estimated from an asset-based index. The indicator can rise when the share of proficient children increases, when attainment gaps between groups narrow, or when both changes occur.
