Surveying money in older documents also Pulveratikum (land surveying due)
The payment for the land surveyor (land surveyor; also called decempedator, field surveyor, geodesist, geometer and hoplometer), who usually carried out a survey together with assistants. The land surveyor was sworn in by the respective lordship; his expenses are shown in old documents to be very high. This can be explained by the fact that he and his team often had to travel long distances and spend several days or even weeks at the site of the survey. – This was a levy imposed in the past by the authorities to finance the high expenses associated with a land survey; it was often accompanied by an assessment of the value of the respective land used for tax purposes. In the German territorial states, the expenses for land surveying and mapping were usually charged to the individual municipalities, which in turn collected the money from the local residents through (special) taxes. – See Lachsteingeld, Massgeld.
