Market participants who have turned solely to contracts for differences on the stock exchange. – On the London Stock Exchange, the term for – floor traders as well as – for all brokers who act as wholesalers, as it were, i.e. do not transact business with the public. – The word Stockjobber was given a strongly negative connotation in German by the socialistic accusatory writings, especially by Karl Marx (1818-1883), but also by celebrated German literati (highly acclaimed and celebrated literati) such as Heinrich Heine (1797-1856): Stockjobber = usurer, profiteer, swindler, “exploiter.” – See agiotage, stock jobber, commercials, money sucker, capitalist, coupon cutter, scenery, lug-and-deception thesis, misochrematie, profit, speculation.
