Salvage money (recompense)
In general, the payment made to persons providing assistance in the event of distress at sea to compensate them for their expenses; also called salvage in older documents. – In particular, payment for the collection of stranded goods (salvage fee; Bergelohn); in the individual countries usually fixed by law. – In earlier times, also a payment to the person who returned a run-off horse to its owner.
