Salary (salary, pay)
Wage or (monthly) salary expressed in money (compensation received by an employee for services performed; a fixed sum paid for a specific period of time worked, usually once-a-month). The term is especially common in Swiss German and refers to the Latin word SALARIUM: to an allotment of salt received by Roman officials and soldiers as part of their wages in kind. – See official money, payment, bonus, deputat, fixum, fringe benefits, guarantee commission.
