Roadshow (also used in German, but with different meanings)
The selection of suitable financial centers in Germany and abroad in the course of an issue of securities. – The promotion of a new issue to institutional investors, usually by the lead manager (a meeting of the book runner [= the managing underwriter for a new issue; the book runner maintains the book of securities sold] with potential investors), then also called presentation. – Public relations work of a company in general and of a bank or capital management company in particular. The primary aim is to attract as many customers or investors as possible from the general public; also referred to derogatorily as street theater. In recent years, the financial press, relevant forums and analysts have been very critical of the recommendations made by capital management companies. The advertisers for such engagements have therefore recently turned to tax advisors (tax counsellors, tax advisors) and lured them with very high commissions. – See letter of intent, arranger, candy, bought deal, co-investment, success story, underwriting, underwriting house, investment banking, cheese factory, multicourcing, pre-marketing, appraisal, shopping, spin doctor.
