Refund (kick-back, also kick back and kickback)
Any crediting of a part of the contractually paid amount of money in favor of the depositor. – Payment of a premium or granting of special benefits for bringing in a new customer (payment made in return for a referral which leads to a transaction or contract). – The assignment of a certain percentage of the monthly salary to a person who has brought the payer into the professional position in question (a percentage of income, given to a person in a position of power or influence, as recompense for having made the income possible). Commonly used as annuities in the ancient church, today corresponding agreements are considered immoral. – Payment to – a member of parliament or – a public official up to the local level for secretly supporting a particular cause (money paid to an official for secretly supporting an organization, individual, or initiative) and thus a bribe. Such behavior, however, is completely unknown in Germany. – Sometimes also said for restitution, namely the transfer of overpaid taxes by the tax office [CH: Steueramt]. – See Abtrag, recognition bonus, bonification.
