Premium bond (also referred to in German as Überparianleihe)

The price of a bond is higher than its face value (face value: 100). In this case, CETERIS PARIBUS the coupon rate is higher than the market rate. Demand for such a bond will increase, the price will rise, and the effective interest rate will in this way automatically align itself with the market interest rate. – See effective yield, coupon rate. – See premium, premium bond.
