Precious metals fund

Assets of a capital management company invested in listed precious metals. According to the requirements of the supervisory authorities, such a commodity fund must purchase the metal in question. Precious metal funds have thus become a significant market player, particularly in the case of global demand – especially for palladium and platinum. In the USA, such funds have only been permitted since the beginning of 2010. As a rule, the funds are based on the price index for a very specific precious metal. – See Exchange Trades Commodities, financialization, index funds, commodity funds, cradle-to-grave investing.
