The management of individual assets invested in financial instruments for third parties with decision-making scope (aim to maximise the value of a portfolio by careful examination of candidate projects and programs for inclusion in the portfolio and the timely exclusion of projects not meeting the portfolio’s strategic objectives). In Germany, such service providers are subject to supervision by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority. They also require a license pursuant to § 32 of the German Banking Act (KWG). – See BaFin Annual Report 2004, p. 124 (an investment intermediary is not permitted to also act as a portfolio manager).
