Pitch (also used in German, but with different meanings)
In the financial market, in general, the conversation of a bank with a potential client (sales talk, promotion by means of argument and demonstration). – In particular, a meeting with a customer during which the bank in turn submits certain proposals to the customer (meeting during which the bank will set out its ideas using a formal presentation), in financial jargon often also called a beauty contest (= a competition in which the contestants, usually women, are judged on their attractiveness, Prussian: SchönheitsWettbewerb). – A sales approach aimed at influencing a potential customer, usually by repeatedly approaching him or her with persuasive power (a persuasive sales talk, esp one routinely repeated). – Instead of pit, from trader’s station at a stock exchange or at a trade fair, as well as a sales booth on the street. – See place money.
