In stock exchange parlance, the shares of medium-sized companies, insofar as these are listed on a stock exchange (mid-cap stands for middle capitalization; these are averagesized companies by market capitalization in a given market, smaller than large caps although larger than small caps). – See Small and medium-sized companies.
