Land protection duty; hall fee
In earlier times, a community levy to pay the field guard (Feldhüter, Flurer, Pfänder, Bannwart; village watchman in charge of fields, field guard). This guard was responsible for protecting the useful areas (groves, meadows, plantations, crops) of a settlement area against unlawful damage by humans or unattended animals. In old documents also called green hat money (hat = here: guarding, protecting, securing). – Today in (student) dormitories a payment for the procurement of additional facilities – such as the installation and maintenance of a washing machine – from the residents of the respective hall, usually levied according to a majority decision of the hall meeting. – See Hamegeld, Hütegeld.

autrefois, il s’agissait d’une taxe communale destinée à payer le garde-champêtre (village watchman in charge of fields, field guard). Celui-ci était chargé de protéger les surfaces utiles (useful areas ; bosquets, prairies, plantations, cultures) d’une zone d’habitation contre les dommages illégaux causés par les hommes ou les animaux non surveillés. Dans les anciens documents, on parle également de “Grünhutgeld” (chapeau = ici : surveillance, protection, sécurité). – Aujourd’hui, dans les foyers (d’étudiants), paiement pour l’acquisition d’équipements supplémentaires – comme l’installation et l’entretien d’une machine à laver – auprès des habitants du couloir concerné, généralement prélevé selon la décision majoritaire de l’assemblée du couloir (hall meeting). – Voir Hamegeld, Hütegeld.
