Industries, location-bound industries

Industries which – supply goods – as in agriculture – or services – such as spas – locally, – have high transport costs – such as the iron and steel industry – or – have to be located in the immediate vicinity of a particular manufacturer – as in chemical apparatus engineering. Traditionally, the house bank principle prevails among companies of this type in Germany, and relationship banking is also regularly close here. – See Balassa-Samuelson effect, Economy, bipartite.
