Strictly speaking, as a legal term, the name under which a merchant operates, see § 17 HGB (German Code of Commerce). – In German-language economic literature, the term “Firma” is also used to refer to a company. – Colloquially, the term “company” sometimes also refers to – a single operating facility, a plant and – in a very broad sense, a workplace, an area of activity, a business in the sense of a (retail) store. – See company, business enterprise.
