In-kind contribution (impost in kind)
In older documents, the delivery of a certain amount of products of agriculture, forestry and domestic economy, such as tithes, usually in the context of a Fronverhältnis. Here, a peasant (liege man, leud: a feudal tenant, villein) received land, protection and often also the assurance of subsistence in times of need from a lord of the manor. In return, the tenant had to deliver fixed quantities of goods (such as grain, wood, meat, honey, wax, woven goods) to the lord of the manor (Fron = lord) as well as certain services (manual work and unpaid draught animal [donkey, steer, horse] and cart work). – See levy, cerozensual, detz, impost, tithe.
