Hold Notice and Monitoring Notice (hold)
A notation made on an account record to show that a specific amount of money in the account is temporarily not available to the account holder. For example, the account holder has deposited a check for credit, but the check has not yet been collected by the bank (for instance, a hold may be placed on a recently deposited check to allow time for the check to be cleared), or – to indicate that this account needs to be monitored for other reasons, including regulatory reasons (or to show that the account requires special handling). – See Address Spoofing, Authentication Requirement, Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering, Threat Analysis, Money Laundering, Account Screening, Account Blocking, Terrorist Financing, Payments Regulation.
