Emperor coins (empire coins)

Coins made of metal with – the effigy of an emperor, – in a broader sense also said in reference to the superior ruler. – Coins with the image of the Roman emperor on the reverse. In the Roman Empire, since Augustus (63/44 B.C.-12 A.D.), the respective emperor reserved the right to issue coins of gold and silver into circulation.
