Deregistration
The release of a (listed) company from the disclosure obligations required by the supervisory authority. Even if a public company delists, regulators may require it to continue to comply with high-cost reporting requirements as long as the company has a certain number of shareholders – three hundred in the U.S. in 2011. – See Compliance, Delisting, Public-to-Private, Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
