In the ECB’s statistical system, these are savings deposits that require depositors to observe an agreed period of notice before they can dispose of the deposits. – Deposits with an agreed notice period of up to three months are included in M 2 (and thus also in M 3). By contrast, deposits redeemable at a period of notice exceeding three months are included in the longer-term financial liabilities of the monetary financial institutions sector. – See also the guide “The single monetary policy in Stage Three: General documentation on monetary policy instruments and procedures” published by the ECB, p. 107, as well as the respective ECB Monthly Bulletin, where the annex “Euro area statistics”, section “Monetary developments, banks and investment funds” is included.
