Denazification
Action taken after World War II in 1945 against employees, including those in banks, who were members of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) or its branches, or who were classified by a denazification court as principal culprits, incriminated, less incriminated or fellow travelers. As a rule (the measures were not uniform in the individual occupation zones), those affected were dismissed and had to take up other occupations outside the financial sector.
