Creation of money sector

In ECB statistics, all monetary financial institutions. They comprise the – central banks, – credit institutions as defined in EU Community law, and – all other resident financial institutions whose business is to – receive deposits and/or close substitutes for deposits from entities other than MFIs, – grant credits for their own account and/or – invest in securities; mainly: money market funds. – See aggregates, monetary, financial institution, monetary. – See the annex entitled “Euro area statistics” in the respective ECB Monthly Bulletin, under the heading “Monetary developments, banks and investment funds.”
