Comfort Letter (also used in German; sometimes Letter of Comfort)
According to ISRS (4400) and the instructions of the regulatory authorities, the declaration by an issuer’s auditor, which is widely prescribed in detail, in connection with an issue that the information contained in the sales prospectus is correct and complete. – In connection with a (financial) contract, the written declaration by a party to consider certain details not specifically mentioned in the text of the contract as included in the contract. – Written declaration by a company that it will stand in for the liabilities of an affiliated company in the event of an emergency (document in which the parent company undertakes to repay on behalf of its subsidiary if the latter is in default), a letter of comfort. – See office audit, European Master Agreement, enforcer, plausibility assessment.
