Clothing money (vesture money; clothing expenses; extra payment for clothing; tax deductions for clothing)

In economics textbooks, said of an intermediate exchange consisting of articles of clothing, and here again especially of furs, as formerly among the aborigines of North America and Canada. – Occasionally used in statistics in reference to household expenditures on clothing (including footwear). – Salary allowance paid to employees who professionally wear a certain wardrobe (working clothes), such as conductors, train conductors, policemen, soldiers (here still called uniforms, montur, and formerly also montage), bakers, doctors, nurses (white clothes [whites]), or chimney sweeps (black clothes); in this meaning formerly also called Kluftgeld (Kluft from the Hebrew chalîphốth = change of clothes. – Allowance for social welfare benefits in special cases, such as pregnancy or special illnesses. – Tax-deductible (lump-sum) amount for clothing for certain professions, such as footballers, referees or musicians. – See tailcoat money, boot money.
