When a church was built or renovated, worshippers used to be able to purchase a seat in the house of God for a certain period of time or “for evermore” by paying a sum of money for themselves or for their entire family, sometimes also called bank money and seat money. – The fee to be paid by exhibitors at a fair to the organizer, the stall money. – The fee charged by cities for a street vendor (street vendor: one who sells takeaway food [snack stand], newspapers [newspaper stand] or wares in public places). – See suit money, indulgence money, fee free place, church money, offering money, St. Peter’s penny, pitch, presence money.
