Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR)

Regulation that came into force at the beginning of 2014 together with the new Capital Adequacy Directive with the aim of ensuring that institutions are better equipped with own funds in terms of quantity and quality. In pursuit of this objective, the CRR primarily regulates the concept of own funds and sets requirements for the amount of minimum own funds and their liquidity ratio. The regulation also specifies a procedure for calculating and reporting a leverage ratio, on the basis of which the competent supervisory authorities must review an institution.
