Cable rate

In older publications, the price of a security or commodity transmitted by telegraph (teleprinter, telex, ticker). Before computerization, the teleprinter was a cable-based device for transmitting information, similar to the landline telephone and the fax machine. At the receiver terminal, the transmitted characters were printed out automatically by means of an inked ribbon. – See ticker.
