Generally the term for the broker on the stock exchange: a dealer in any kind of products or securities, but who acts merely as an intermediary (who communicates bid and ask levels to potential principals [= principals]) without becoming a business partner in transactions with his clients (which arranges transactions as agent without acting as counterparty in the transactions). A corresponding company is usually referred to as a brokerage firm (brokerage). – A freelance insurance agent who finds the right insurance for the customer and often also manages the policies on behalf of the policyholder. – Especially in the U.S., also said of a licensed real estate professional who usually represents the seller of a property. – See blockbusting, stockbroker, listing agent, dual ding, client referral, commission house, broker, proxenetic, sensal, lead broker, angle broker.
