Bookrunner, also known as global coordinator (also usually referred to in German, more rarely as underwriting manager)

A bank that takes the lead in a syndicate for a joint commitment and, above all, brings the financing partners – i.e. the investors – together: the lead manager. As a rule, there is only one bookrunner for issues. Sometimes, however, it can be advantageous to divide the tasks between two institutions; especially if you want to attract domestic and foreign subscribers. In this case, the bookrunners regularly exchange the status of the subscriptions; in this case, the determination of the issue price and the allocation of the securities are also always carried out after joint agreement. – Arranger, issuance, bookbuilding, initial public offering, bought deal, gross spread, club deal, deal, underwriting, underwriting house, underwriting yield, initial purchaser, guaranteed syndicate, investment banking, intercreditor agreement, client effect, lead manager, multisourcing, precip, roadshow, underwriter, securities underwriting.
