Block voting and voting right pooling

Several shareholders join together to cast their votes jointly and in the same direction at the Annual General Meeting (a group of shareholders acting together to vote their shares aligned in a single block). Such a measure also allows a minor shareholder (a shareholder whose percentage of shares is too small to confer any power to exert influence over corporate action) to make his voice heard at the shareholders’ meeting. Up to now, banks have shown little inclination to reconcile small shareholders. Thanks to the new media, however, it has become easier to locate scattered shareholders, even worldwide, and to persuade them to bundle their voting rights. – See Acting in Concert, persons, acting in concert.
