Hot issue (also referred to in German as hot paper)

An announced new issue of equities or bonds that is expected to be highly oversubscribed after its initial public offering. – A newly issued security which rises steeply in price after its initial public offering because of intense investor demand; more narrowly, an issue that trades at a premium over the public offering price on the very first day of trading. – See issue, oversubscribed, high flyer, over-allotment option, paper, heavy, oversubscription.
