Interim allowance; inmates’ reserve money
In Germany, as part of labor market policy, payment to persons who were previously unemployed or employed in a job-creating scheme but who now switch to self-employment (Ich-AG; ego-company: the odd expression “Ich-AG” comes from the draft of the Hartz Commission denoting an unemployed person who becomes self-employed and receives certain allowances for that). – For prisoners according to § 51 StVollzG-NRW, four sevenths of the monthly remuneration. These amounts are blocked for the prisoner until the time of his release because the money is intended to secure the livelihood of the prisoner and his family for the first four weeks after release. – See Eigengeld, Hausgeld, Pekulium Übergangsgeld, Taschengeld – Cf. Monthly Report of the Deutsche Bundesbank of September 2006, p. 70 (here also further technical terms related to financial benefits in the labor market).
